Djokovic beat the tournament’s top seed Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinal, in what was a highly anticipated clash between two of the top players in the world. It was a disappointing showing for Alcaraz, who suffered a leg issue at 1-1 in the third, followed by Djokovic winning nine straight games for a 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 set.
Now, Djokovic will clash with Ruud, who beat No. 22 Alexander Zverev in straight sets to advance. It’s the first Grand Slam showdown between these two, but they’ve played against each other on four previous occasions, with Djokovic holding a 4-0 all-time head-to-head record against Ruud.
Here’s how to tune in.

Djokovic is -475 to win, according to DraftKings.
Djokovic, a 36-year-old from Serbia, wants to break a tie with rival Rafael Nadal for the most major championships by a man. Another triumph would also make Djokovic, who won at Roland Garros in 2016 and 2021, the first man in tennis history with at least three trophies from each Slam event.
This will be Ruud’s third final in the past five majors. Last year, the 24-year-old from Norway was the runner-up to Nadal at the French Open and to Carlos Alcaraz at the U.S. Open.
The No. 3-seeded Djokovic owns a 4-0 head-to-head record against No. 4 Ruud and has won all eight sets they’ve played against each other.
WHEN IS THE MEN’S FINAL?
Play begins in Djokovic vs. Ruud at Court Philippe Chatrier at about 2:30 p.m. local time in Paris, which is 8:30 a.m. EDT. That will be preceded by the women’s doubles final at 11:30 a.m. local time, 5:30 a.m. EDT, with Leylah Fernandez and Taylor Townsend facing Hsieh Su-Wei and Wang Xinyu.
Ahead of Sunday's final, here's a tactical breakdown of the match-up between the No.3 and No.4 seeds
Novak Djokovic will be chasing history on Sunday when he plays Casper Ruud in the men’s final at Roland-Garros.
Victory for the 36-year-old would make him the oldest men’s champion in Paris in the Open Era and give him a men’s record 23rd Grand Slam title, one more than Rafael Nadal, level with Serena Williams and one behind the all-time leader Margaret Court.
Djokovic has beaten Ruud four times out of four but the Norwegian has been improving with every match and is in the final for the second year in a row, chasing his first Slam title.
Here’s a tactical breakdown of Sunday’s final...
After defeating No. 1 seed Carlos Alcatraz in the French Open semifinals on Friday, Novak Djokovic is set to play in his 34th Grand Slam singles final – the most appearances in men's tennis history.
However, none may be as monumental as this one for the 36-year-old from Serbia. A win in Sunday's Roland Garros final would give Djokovic his 23rd men's Grand Slam singles title, breaking a tie with Rafael Nadal for the most ever in men's tennis.
The man tasked with stopping No. 3 seed Djokovic? No. 4 seed Casper Ruud, who lost to Nadal in last year's final, giving the Spanish great the men's Grand Slam record. Ruud, a 24-year-old from Norway, has now reached three of the past five major finals – including last year's US Open – but has yet to win a Grand Slam singles title.
Djokovic has the chance to win his second major of the calendar year after winning the Australian Open for the 10th time in January. He has won the French Open twice – the last time in 2021 after he won his ninth Australian Open.
