Djokovic beat the tournament’s top seed Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinal, in what was a highly anticipated clash between two of the top players in the world. It was a disappointing showing for Alcaraz, who suffered a leg issue at 1-1 in the third, followed by Djokovic winning nine straight games for a 6-3, 5-7, 6-1, 6-1 set.

Now, Djokovic will clash with Ruud, who beat No. 22 Alexander Zverev in straight sets to advance. It’s the first Grand Slam showdown between these two, but they’ve played against each other on four previous occasions, with Djokovic holding a 4-0 all-time head-to-head record against Ruud.

Here’s how to tune in.

What: French Open Men’s Singles final

Who: Novak Djokovic vs. Casper Ruud

When: Sunday, June 11

Where: Paris, France

Time: 9 a.m. ET

TV: NBC

Novak Djokovic will be seeking his men’s-record 23rd Grand Slam title in the French Open final.

Casper Ruud will be seeking his first.

They meet Sunday at Court Philippe Chatrier.

Djokovic, a 36-year-old from Serbia, wants to break a tie with rival Rafael Nadal for the most major championships by a man. Another triumph would also make Djokovic, who won at Roland Garros in 2016 and 2021, the first man in tennis history with at least three trophies from each Slam event.

This will be Ruud’s third final in the past five majors. Last year, the 24-year-old from Norway was the runner-up to Nadal at the French Open and to Carlos Alcaraz at the U.S. Open.

The No. 3-seeded Djokovic owns a 4-0 head-to-head record against No. 4 Ruud and has won all eight sets they’ve played against each other.

WHEN IS THE MEN’S FINAL?

Play begins in Djokovic vs. Ruud at Court Philippe Chatrier at about 2:30 p.m. local time in Paris, which is 8:30 a.m. EDT. That will be preceded by the women’s doubles final at 11:30 a.m. local time, 5:30 a.m. EDT, with Leylah Fernandez and Taylor Townsend facing Hsieh Su-Wei and Wang Xinyu.

WHAT HAPPENED IN THE WOMEN’S FINAL?

Defending champion Iga Swiatek went from way ahead to suddenly behind in the French Open women’s final on Saturday. But the No. 1-ranked Swiatek righted herself and grabbed the last three games to get past unseeded Karolina Muchova 6-2, 5-7, 6-4. That gave Swiatek a third career championship at the French Open and fourth Grand Slam title.

The French Open final on Sunday will feature Novak Djokovic, who is seeded third, and Casper Ruud, who is seeded fourth. The match will take place in Paris at the Court Philippe Chatrier.

Let's have a look at the most recent games for these two teams:

Ruud might want to consider changing his name to “Rudd-erless” when facing Djokovic, as he’s yet to score a win against him. Looks like the Serb had the last laugh in their 2022 ATP Finals showdown, clinching the title with a 7-5, 6-3 victory.

Ruud’s topspin-heavy forehand is so effective on clay that it’s practically a match made in tennis heaven. He’s basically the king of the court when it comes to dictating points. Looks like the Norwegian needs to channel his inner zen master and bring his A-game to pull off a surprise victory against Djokovic.

Ruud may be a fine player, but let’s not forget about the Serb who’s on a mission to snatch his 23rd Grand Slam singles title and crowning himself as the only GOAT.

Serbian tennis great Novak Djokovic is all set to go head-to-head against Casper Ruud on Sunday, eyeing his record-breaking 23rd Grand Slam title. Having defeated World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the previous round, the 35-year-old will face Ruud in the French Open 2023 men’s singles final at Philippe Chatrier. Ruud is set to make consecutive appearances at the Roland Garros final after earning a straight-sets win over Alexander Zverev in the semifinal.

Last time around, Casper Ruud suffered a 6–3, 6–3, 6–0 loss at the hands of Rafael Nadal, who picked up the 22nd Grand Slam title of his career with that win. The Norwegian now looks to get his best out against the Serb, who has a 20-4 record in singles competition this year. This will be the fifth time Novak Djokovic will battle Ruud in his professional tennis career.

In four head-to-head encounters so far, Djokovic has emerged as the winner in all four times with the last coming in the Nitto ATP Finals in Italy in 2022. While Djokovic won the hard-court clash by 7-5, 6-3, the last time they fought on the clay court at the ATP Masters 1000 in Rome, Italy, the Australian Open 2023 champion won by 6-4, 6-3. This is the first time they will lock horns this season.

World No. 3 Djokovic came out unscathed in a blockbuster last-four clash with top seed Carlos Alcaraz. The 36-year-old drew first blood, taking the first set for the loss of three games after surviving three break points in a pivotal seventh game.

Alcaraz responded in kind, converting his sixth break point of the match but failed to serve out the set. He then almost rued squandering three consecutive set points on the Djokovic serve and survived a break point before leveling proceedings.
